Lauren Goodger has candidly explained that she considered terminating her current pregnancy as she faces raising two small children as a single parent.
The 35-year-old reality star stunned fans on Monday when she revealed she is already 16 weeks pregnant – six months after welcoming her first ever child, Larose, last July.
Lauren's life has been thrown into chaos in this week, however, as she abruptly ended her romance with 24-year-old Charles Drury, who she shares Larose with and with whom she is expecting her second child.
The former Towie star decided to show Charles the door after she learned he had slept with a model named Amy Gilbert last year while they were ‘on a break’ from their relationship after Charles walked out on her and Larose when their daughter was suffering health problems.
Now Lauren has confirmed she considered terminating her second pregnancy as she was afraid of what the future could hold.
Laying her cards on the table to OK! magazine, Lauren explained: "We weren’t very careful and Charlie was really pleased, but being honest I was really in two minds about it. I was like, 'I’m just getting myself back together – I’m going back to square one. Is this fair?'"
She continued: "You get real mum guilt, like, 'What about Larose? She’s still a baby, she still needs me, I won’t be able to be there for her’. A lot went through my mind which is why I’ve held out a bit longer until I’ve announced it."
She went on: "Charlie was like, 'I really want this baby.' And I said, 'So do I.' I made the decision to go ahead with it and I’m so glad I did."
The TV star then explained: "At the beginning, I was like, 'What am I going to do?' Everyone had an opinion and people close to me said, 'Lauren, you can’t do it.'
"But I stuck to my guns and said, 'No, I’ve made a decision and I’m going to go ahead.' Charlie was like, 'Yeah, I really want it.' We had that little break [in November] and he came back and was like, 'No, you're not having a termination – I want this family.'
"I knew deep down I was going to go ahead with it, but I was scared. I’ve got to think of Larose too. But if I had a big gap between children, I’d get myself sorted, Larose in a good routine and then I’m back to square one. I might as well do it now when I’m in new baby mode."
Fans were stunned earlier this month when it was revealed Lauren had dumped Charles over his ‘on a break’ fling.
A source close to the ex-Towie star said: "Lauren was really hurt when she found out about Charles’ fling with Amy.
"She was absolutely furious with him and can't understand how he could do this to his family.
"She told him to pack his bags and leave and he has."
And Lauren had earlier defended Charle’s choice to break up with her when Larose was suffering from a suspected case of sepsis last November before they reconciled last month.
She previously wrote in a magazine column: “Listen, moving house and having a baby are very stressful things. Having a baby, as well as it being a beautiful and amazing thing, really does test couples.
“For Charlie, it’s a lot of change and I think he was quite overwhelmed with everything. As much as he loves me and Larose, he had to take five minutes out.”
Lauren went on to detail that Charles eventually changed his mind and decided he wanted to “come home” and “wants his family” with the pair then reconciling.
