Lauren Bell and Danni Wyatt starred as England’s women continued their perfect tour of the West Indies with a comfortable victory in the opening T20 in Antigua.
Bell took three wickets as the home side were restricted to 105 for seven from their 20 overs, with Sophie Ecclestone also exceptional with the ball, before Wyatt’s unbeaten 59 saw England to an eight-wicket win with more than seven overs to spare.
"We wanted to start the T20 series with a bang,” Wyatt said, with England having already completed a 3-0 ODI series sweep on Friday. “The girls bowled exceptionally well under the lights, we spoke about playing with intent, being brave and entertaining and that's what we did with the bat as well.”
The tour now moves to Barbados for four more T20s, the first of which takes place on Wednesday night.
“We're really excited to get to Barbados,” Wyatt added. “Obviously we've loved our time here in Antigua, being on the same pitch for all four games made it a little difficult to bat on out there but we found a way and it's all about picking the bowlers you want to take down and just having good intent as well as backing yourself and that's what we did."
