Laura Woods has described Ruben Loftus-Cheek as being “carved by Jesus” after the Chelsea midfielder admitted the presenter was his dream date.
Back in March, Loftus-Cheek was interviewed by Woods on talkSPORT and named his interviewer as his crush. "An exceptional answer!" Woods replied. "It's been an absolute pleasure and I'll get your number later!"
The cheeky exchange followed on from boxer Anthony Joshua choosing Beyonce. Woods has then taken to asking the question to lots of her guests on her talkSPORT show – and she has now opened up on the flirtation with Loftus-Cheek.
"On talkSPORT, we love anything like that if it's a great opportunity to talk about sex,” she explained on the Staying Relevant podcast. “Someone had asked Anthony Joshua who his dream date was and he said Beyonce.
"So we all did our dream dates and tried to get a date off the back of it. I said [actor] Leo Suter, he is amazing. Ally [McCoist] said Claudia Schiffer. After that I had to do an interview with Ruben Loftus- Cheek and asked him the same thing and he said me. I was like 'good god'.
"Ruben is probably the best looking player in the Premier League. I didn't mind that at all! That is the quote for my wall. It is excellent to have an association with someone who looks like he has been carved by Jesus.”
Woods has kept her love life private and has deliberately tried to keep her social media activity professional, rather than personal.
Her 739,000 Twitter followers and her 685,000 Instagram followers are generally given her thoughts on Arsenal, as well as pictures and updates from behind the scenes at sporting events.
The 35-year-old is happy to keep things private in order to avoid speculation. "I try and keep a lot of my private life, especially men, I keep that away from social media unless I am going to marry them,” she said. “Imagine posting your new boyfriend and then next week you break up!”
Loftus-Cheek isn’t the only sports star to have flirted with Woods in an interview. Speaking to the broadcaster after his unanimous points victory over Jermaine Franklin at the 02 Arena in April, Joshua tried his luck.
Woods asked Joshua who his dream date was midway through the interview and the 33-year-old replied: "You. I know Loftus-Cheek has beaten me to it!" Woods then joked: "It's fine, there's no competition!"
Joshua then asked if Woods, 35, was in a relationship. "I'm not in a relationship no, are you?" she said, suggesting she was too focused on work and asked if Joshua had the same mindset.
Joshua, who confirmed he was not romantically attached, replied: "With boxing I didn't want to commit because I didn't want to go training and then I'm busy arguing with my Mrs or something and my head's not in the game. So I just decided to keep my head where it needs to be. I've seen good relationships and bad ones."
