ITV presenter Laura Woods was left shocked after Roy Keane described Kevin De Bruyne’s display against Bristol City as “sexy” after Manchester City reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
The two were on hand to run the rule over City’s success over the Championship side to ease their way into the last eight. Phil Foden got Pep Guardiola’s side up and running after scoring before doubling his tally in the second-half.
Belgian playmaker De Bruyne was on hand to wrap things up for City as he scored an excellent third from distance. Manchester United icon Keane was highly complimentary of the 31-year-old’s performance post-match and used somewhat unexpected language in describing his strike.
Speaking on ITV, he said: “I love watching him live. It’s the little details he gets right, in terms of his decision making, weight of pass, he’s got a goal in him…he is world class.
“Some of the stuff tonight, this goal, Jack does really well here, the weight of the pass is perfect and this is pure quality. I said when we were watching ‘sexy football’.
“The weight of pass and then when he gets the ball there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that he was going to score. It was like a tap in for him. I love watching him.”

Woods then fired a cheeky jibe towards her colleague as he broke from his otherwise steely approach to punditry. She replied: “What I enjoy as well, is that Kevin de Bruyne will go home, he’ll turn on the tele, he’ll watch the highlights back and he’ll wonder how Roy Keane described it. I don’t think he would have expected him to say ‘sexy’, but here we are!”
Supporters were also somewhat taken aback from the exchange and took to Twitter with their own amusement. One supporter wrote: “As if Roy Keane has just used the phrase sexy football.”
Another then said: “Roy Keane just used the phrase 'sexy football'. Games gone,” alongside a shocked emoji.
A final supporter then also remarked: “Roy Keane talking about sexy football. This is surely the end times.”
It is not the first time that Woods has been caught off guard by comments from one of her colleagues. During the World Cup in Qatar, she claimed that she had to “pinch herself” after Graeme Souness appeared to compliment England following a drab draw with the USA during the group stages of the competition.
The former Liverpool star said: “This is rich coming from a Scotsman, I wouldn’t be too hard on your team [England]. I think you’re up against a really good USA team,” to which Woods replied: “I just have to pinch myself because I think that was a compliment from Graeme Souness to England.”
