Laura Whitmore has shut down haters who claims she’s boring, overpaid and too old to be hosting Love Island ahead of the start of the new series on Monday night.
"Shall we get this out of the way, then we can enjoy the juicy bits! See ya Monday,” the 37-year-old said in a minute-long clip uploaded to TikTok.
Kicking things off, an opinion flashed up on screen, which read: “I think its ridiculous that Laura flies back and forth - send the guests there!"
Revealing that she has a clause in her contract to specifically address this, she replied:" The villa is Mallorca and Aftersun is London. This is the situation for any host, always has been. I have it in my contract to offset carbon emissions."
The next opinion read: "Laura has the easiest job on the telly! She gets paid £50k a minute. It’s an outrage!"
The mum-of-one clearly took umbrage by this, pointing out that nobody questions how much her husband and narrator Iain Stirling, 34, pockets from the show.
She said: "Firstly, Iain has never had attention on money he earns. Why don’t we like women earning money?
"I b****y wish I earned what was written in the press! I only get paid days I work."
"She’s so boring. Why doesn’t she ask more? What’s with all the pauses!?", the next flash card read.
She replied:"Drama baby! if I was on hosting duties I would be having full on banter. But I can’t I need to stay as impartial as possible and trust the process. Last year with social distancing I couldn’t even give them a hug! And I am a hugger."
Don’t even get her started about age.
Whitmore began fronting Love Island after her friend and the former host of the show Caroline Flack took her own life aged 40 in February 2020.
In response to criticism that she is too old to be hosting the ITV2 dating show, she shot back: "I don’t plan to date the Love Islanders. I am the HOST. Age means experience and it’s a privilege."
