Latest Tottenham injury news as four miss Southampton and Antonio Conte handed boost

Tottenham visit Southampton on Saturday looking to take advantage of the Saints' poor position in the Premier League table by strengthening their top four chances.

Spurs responded to their Champions League exit by overcoming Nottingham Forest last weekend. It was a much-improved performance from the side that crashed out of Europe at the hands of AC Milan with Antonio Conte placing his faith in Brazilian Richarlison.

The attacker did have the ball in the back of the net early on against Forest but VAR denied him of his first Premier League goal for the club. Instead, a Harry Kane double and Heung-Min Son goal meant the north Londoners went four points clear of Newcastle.

With no cup competitions left for Spurs to focus on, the league remains the priority and ensuring Champions League football returns to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

Southampton are their next opponents and they come into the clash on the back of a disappointing defeat to Brentford in midweek. The Saints are rock bottom of the Premier League table, two points from safety with 11 games remaining.

Fortunately for Spurs, they make the 106-mile trip with no fresh injury concerns, Conte confirmed on Thursday. "No news, no new injuries. You know Sessegnon is out, Bissouma, Bentancur and Lloris. No new injuries. We have another training session tomorrow but fingers crossed I hope for nothing different."

The news of no fresh concerns on the injury-front will be music to the ears of supporters. In recent game, there have been doubts over players prior to games. Emerson Royal and Ivan Perisic were doubts last weekend but both featured.

With that being said, there remains four long-term absentees for Spurs in Hugo Lloris, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon. Lloris has been out of action with ligament damage in his knee while Bissouma was forced to undergo surgery on a stress fracture.

Fellow midfielder Bentancur sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in the 4-1 defeat to Leicester last month while Sessegnon has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
