Counting is well under way at a bustling Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley, with results filtering in from the Renfrewshire Council election.
The first candidates to learn their fate were in Renfrew South and Gallowhill, where SNP duo Cathy McEwan and Jim Paterson were re-elected, as was Labour candidate Edward Grady.
Paterson, standing in his third election, said: "It's always good when you're re-elected because you feel that it's an endorsement of your previous five years of what you've been doing."
