Latest product recalls as Argos, Tesco and Aldi issue warnings

A number of retailers have withdrawn or recalled products in recent days amid fears they could a danger to some consumers. Warnings have been issued by the Food Standards Agency and the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Anyone who has any of the products should stop using them and contact the retailer for advice or a full refund or replacement.

Product recalls and withdrawals happen when it has been found that a product could prove to be a hazard - which can include anything from mislabelling to a food poisoning risk.

Argos Habitat Isla fabric sofas in Green, Teal, and Pink (2303-0001); Habitat Jackson Fabric Sofas in Black, Orange, and Artichoke (2302-0155) and Habitat Eton Fabric Sofas and Footstools in Grey and Charcoal (2303-0003)

The product has been identified as presenting a serious risk of fire as the fabric cover fails to meet the requirements of the relevant standard BS5852. If the cover of the sofa came into contact with a naked flame, it would catch fire and continue to flame.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.

Mizzie the Kangaroo Natural Teething Toy (model: 2021-MTK-012) (2302-0133)

The product presents a serious risk of asphyxiation to the intended user, small children because of its physical form. The large kangaroo teether included is of a certain shape/size that could press on the back of the throat of a small child who is too young to sit up unaided.

Murder Motel vampire kit sold by Poundstretcher (2302-0150)

The product has been recalled because it presents a risk of choking as the teeth included are too brittle and can break, producing a small part.

Aldi recalls Plant Menu Organic Super Firm Tofu

Aldi is recalling Plant Menu Organic Super Firm Tofu because of a temperature control issue that could potentially spoil the product, which may be unsafe to eat. The issue only affects product sold at a limited number of Aldi stores in the Midlands.

Tesco recalls Tesco Arrabbiata Sauce

Tesco is recalling Tesco Arrabbiata Sauce because it may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The Card Factory recalls Happy Easter Egg Hunt bag

The Card Factory is recalling Happy Easter Egg Hunt bag because it contains milk, peanuts, and soya which are not listed in English on the label. The product also states that it may contain cereals containing gluten, egg, and other nuts. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts, peanuts and/or soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to cereals containing gluten, egg and/or milk or milk constituents.

JK Foods recalls Tiger Tiger Taste Japan Mirin

JK Foods is recalling Tiger Tiger Taste Japan Mirin because it contains soya which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.
