The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine has arrived, with the entire pro football world descending upon Lucas Oil Stadium for the sport’s biggest annual job interview.
Top prospects will get an opportunity to show off their athleticism for team decision-makers, as well as meet with them for private interviews and classroom work.
As players and team personnel begin to arrive in Indianapolis, here’s the latest news, notes and reports heading into this year’s week-long event:
Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud will throw at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine, while Alabama QB Bryce Young will wait to do so for his pro day, sources tell me and @TomPelissero.
Young is long past his AC joint injury from this season, but he’ll just do interviews in Indy.

Meanwhile, Florida QB Anthony Richardson plans to throw and do all testing and drills, per source. A showcase for the physically gifted Richardson, who has a chance to rise through the pre-draft process. https://t.co/mTgq6sANxa

Georgia DL Jalen Carter, considered one of the top players in this year’s draft, will not participate in the workout portion of this week’s combine but will do the interviews with teams and the physical. His agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha, told teams that Carter will work… https://t.co/6zty6qlLhl

Sources: The Bears already have been approached by multiple teams about trading the draft’s No. 1 overall pick, and Chicago is said to be “leaning toward” moving the pick. So the No. 1 pick now looks like it’s for sale. pic.twitter.com/2w03L6qP0L

Texas Tech edge Tyree Wilson, one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, is progressing well in his recovery from a fractured foot. But Wilson just started ramping up workouts two weeks ago and plans to wait until his pro day to do drills and testing, per source.

Wilson is preparing to bench press at this week’s combine — the only event he could work on while in a boot, which he shed last month. He met at the Senior Bowl with decision-makers from almost every team in the Top 10 and has rare traits, including a Giannis-like wingspan.

Alabama edge Will Anderson Jr., one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, plans to participate in at least some on-field work here at the scouting combine, per source. He’s in the LB group, which works out Thursday.

#Kentucky QB Will Levis, another top QB, will throw in Indy at the Scouting Combine, source said. He joins CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson as top passers to do so, while Bryce Young waits for his Pro Day.
This’ll all be live on @nflnetwork on Saturday at 1 pm ET. 👀 https://t.co/VuVRStRrm6

Ole Miss RB Zach Evans won’t be participating in drills at this week’s scouting combine because of a minor hamstring strain, per source. The plan is to do everything at his pro day.

Unfortunate yes. We’ll be back better than ever. Im still one of the best in the class. God just gave me more motivation. https://t.co/P4l4eHFJwW

Boston College WR Zay Flowers completed his training at PER4ORM in South Florida … and 13 pounds of muscle later, he appears ready to head to Indianapolis for the combine. 👀 pic.twitter.com/UxbWkWno99

LSU DT Jaquelin Roy, a projected Day 2 Draft pick, will run his 40 and do his broad and vertical jumps at his pro day instead of the Scouting Combine after tweaking his hamstring in training, per his agent @jtoosonlaw.

UAB RB DeWayne McBride, the NCAA’s rushing leader, will not participate in any combine drills this week in Indianapolis due to an injured hamstring he sustained recently while training, per source. McBride is rehabbing and planning to do everything at his pro day March 22.

Texas RB Bijan Robinson, the consensus top back in the 2023 NFL Draft, plans to do all on-field drills and testing at this week’s combine here in Indianapolis, per source. Texas pro day is March 9, just three days after the combine. But Robinson wants to compete.

One player to keep an eye on this week in Indy: Kansas State CB Julius Brents. He’s over 6-3 with a nearly 7-foot wingspan and should test off the charts, with a shot at a sub-4.4 40. This year’s Tariq Woolen? pic.twitter.com/2BboHzPhSh

Utah TE Dalton Kincaid, @MoveTheSticks’ top TE and No. 10 overall prospect, will not participate in drills at the Scouting Combine, source says. Kincaid suffered a small fracture in his back in the Utes’ final regular-season game and played through it in the Pac-12 title game.
