The latest homeless figures "must serve as a wake-up call to the zombie government", a Dublin politician has said.
There were 11,742 people, including 3,373 children, in emergency accommodation, according to the new stats released on Friday afternoon. The overall number is just a small decrease of 12 cases from February.
There has been a jump of 1,881 people homeless in Dublin over the last 12 months with a total of 8,588 people without a home in the capital. The figures have been slammed as disgraceful by Cllr Daithi Doolan.

The Sinn Fein Dublin housing spokesman said: "Today’s figures must serve as a wake-up call to the zombie government. This is a direct result of the policies being pursued by this Government.
"The homeless crisis continues to spiral out of control. Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien should hold his head in shame.
“I am deeply concerned that this increase occurred before the eviction ban has even been lifted. The numbers will inevitably grow once the protection of the ban is gone tomorrow."
Cllr Doolan is calling on Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien to extend the eviction ban that was lifted last month. Cllr Doolan said: "There are a number of actions the Government can immediately take to speed up the delivery of housing.
"Minister O’Brien can extend the eviction ban, slash procurement red tape, release the 1 billion underspend to Dublin City Council for housing and increase funding for architects and planners to be employed by City Council."
