There's just over a week left to go until the world's most iconic music festival takes place, Glastonbury, with early weather forecasts indicating a mixture of conditions. Fans hoping for plenty and sunshine and high temperatures may be disappointed as latest predictions hint at possibility of showers and even thunder.
According to BBC Weather, temperatures are expected to linger around the low to-mid twenties Celsius on most days of the festival, with 27C heat possible on one of the days. However, it may not be completely dry as the latest forecast also suggests spells of rain and showers throughout the week.
This year, the event is being held in its usual location of Worthy Farm in Somerset from Wednesday, June 21 to Monday, June 26. Wednesday is so far looking to be a largely damp day, as BBC Weather forecasts light rain and showers, with some sunny spells, from 8am until 6pm.
It'll remain warm however with highs of 22C, lows of 11C alongside a gentle breeze. It currently looks like it'll be a similar picture on Thursday (June 22) with sunshine and cloud throughout the morning, followed by rain between 2pm and 5pm before sunshine takes hold again in the evening.
Staying warm still with highs of 23C and lows of 12C. Umbrellas may be needed on Friday (June 23) as thundery showers could hit during the morning, with a sunshine and showers forecast for the remainder of the afternoon.
Temperatures creeping up to highs of 24C on during the day, with lows of 13C. The weekend looks to be the best days so far, with wall-to-wall sunshine forecast on Saturday and Sunday (June 24-25).
The mercury looks set to reach a balmy 25C on Saturday, soaring to 27C on Sunday, with lows of 14C. It's expected to be a pleasant day on the Monday (June 26) too, with sunny spells on course to bring the festival to a close.
There is still a slight risk of rain around midday, but staying hot with highs of 26C. It is important however to remember that there is still plenty of time for the forecast to change.
What is the Met Office forecasting?
According to the Met Office's latest UK long-range forecast from Sunday, June 18 to Tuesday, June 27, it's going to feel pretty hot with some rain. The forecast reads: "Predominantly dry and settled conditions hanging on especially in northern and some eastern areas.
"From Sunday into early next week, there is an increasing risk of more widespread rain or showers for a time, which likely turn heavy and thundery at times. Temperatures again warm and feeling humid overnight, and very warm or hot by day in between any showers.
"Further ahead, a continuing risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms at times in the south and west, whereas further north and east there should be some more reliable drier interludes, then perhaps becoming more generally a little more settled by the end of this period. Warmer than average temperatures overall, with hot days even in wetter areas and continued humidity at night."
