Latest Cyprus travel rules for Brits as Covid tests eased for vaccinated travellers

Cyprus has eased its travel rules for vaccinated Brits by scrapping a requirement for pre-departure Covid tests.

Under the new rules, which came into force on February 21, travellers who are fully vaccinated against Covid will no longer be required to take a pre-travel PCR test to visit Cyprus.

However, Cyprus isn't joining the line-up of destinations you can visit without Covid tests just yet. All arrivals aged 12 or over will still be required to take a PCR test on arrival at the airport - which costs between €15 to €19 - and self-isolate until they receive their result online.

The silver lining is that this usually takes up to a maximum of three hours, so it shouldn't eat too much of your time making the most of the country's most incredible beaches.

After 72 hours in Cyprus, you may be subject to a rapid test; if you've had a booster jab, you'll be exempt.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers can still visit Cyprus for holidays, but they will need to undergo tests.

This includes needing a negative test result taken pre-departure; this can be either a PCR test done within 72 hours prior to travel, or a rapid antigen test done within 24 hours before travel.

Like vaccinated arrivals, all passengers aged 12 and over will also need to take a PCR test at the airport. After 72 hours in the country, you may also be required to undergo a rapid test at a mobile site - this is free of charge if you have a boarding pass you can present at the testing site.

Cyprus isn't the only destination to be easing its Covid test rules, with other countries such as Greece, Portugal and France having recently scrapped Covid tests for vaccinated Brits altogether.

Meanwhile an increasing number of countries have begun to reopen their borders to tourists. Vietnam recently announced plans to reopen three months earlier than planned, while Australia has started welcoming back vaccinated Brits this month.

New Zealand also unveiled a phased reopening plan which could see the majority of Brits able to visit for holidays from July.
