Former UFC Fighter Loses By 12-Second KO On Bare Knuckle FC Debut
Although boxing and MMA are very much leading the way when it comes to combat sports, bare knuckle boxing is also making waves. This is partly due to how regularly fans are seeing quick knockouts, which is what everyone seems to want when it comes to fighting sports.
The fledging bare-knuckle boxing promotion Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) at the forefront of the sport, partly due to the fact UFC superstar Conor McGregor is one of the co-owners.
That mixed with the quick knockouts and viral moments has made bare-knuckle boxing increasingly popular in recent years, even months. This was epitomised last night at BKFC Fight Night in Los Angeles, where Anthony Garrett vs Lavar Johnson headlined the card in Long Beach, California.
After a 16-second knockout victory on his Bare Knuckle FC debut back in August, Garrett went one better and finished his opponent four seconds faster in his second BKFC fight. His 12-second knockout set a new KO record, which was also his last fight against John Orr.
Garrett broke his own record, meaning his total time in the ring equates to just 28 seconds in two fights. Both knockouts actually occurred earlier than stated, but the timer can’t officially stop until the referee waves the fight off. Hence why last night’s was 12 seconds rather than four or five.

Former UFC Heavyweight Slept By First Punch In BKFC Debut
It was former UFC heavyweight Lavar Johnson who was on the receiving end of the aforementioned 12-second knockout by Anthony Garrett.
The mixed martial artist enjoyed a relatively successful career in the UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce before retiring in 2014 with a record of 18-10. At 47-years-old, Johnson made his BKFC debut last night and it’s certainly one he’ll hope to forget.
Although last night was his Bare Knuckle FC debut, Johnson had scored back-to-back knockouts in bare-knuckle before stepping into the BKFC ring for the very first time against Anthony Garrett.
The hard-hitting American charged forward with a four-punch combination as soon as the first bell rang, but not one of them landed. Instead, Johnson got clipped with a ferocious counterpunch from Garrett, sending him to the canvas within the first five seconds of the bout.
The former UFC fighter could not get up, lying in his back stiff and unable to get up. Former UFC referee Dan Mirgliotta officially waves the fight off after just 12 seconds, with Garrett breaking his own BKFC fastest-knockout record from August’s debut.
