Latest Arsenal injury news as one player to miss Sporting amid Gabriel Jesus update

Arsenal beat Fulham in the Premier league, with The Gunners making light work of a tough away trip to beat the Cottagers 0-3 and retain their five point lead atop the Premier League table.

Following injury doubts before the game, Leandro Trossard played a full role in the win with three assists to mark a top performance from the whole team. They will now hope to overcome Sporting this Thursday night, then Crystal Palace next weekend before heading off on their international break and returning in April.

This means that there is the potential for any small injury issues in the camp to be resolved over the course of what will amount to a two week break from action. The title run-in will follow, with Mikel Arteta hopeful of a clean bill of health for what could be the most important run of matches in recent Arsenal history.

There were more injury problems last week to worry about, with doubts surrounding Martin Odegaard, Eddie Nketiah, Trossard and Gabrial Jesus. However, all were back and available to face Fulham as Arteta appeared to have talked up the squad's injury situation before the match.

Jesus played 13 minutes in the match at the weekend, his first minutes since sustaining an injury with Brazil at the World Cup. After the match, Arteta revealed his happiness at seeing the return of Jesus, who could make his first start before the international break.

Arteta spoke about the return of his striker, talking about his relief to see the former Manchester City man return. he said: "A big boost. The first step today. We didn’t know if it was the right game today. He said to me a few days ago ‘I’m still missing something.’ Yesterday I looked in his eyes and he said ‘I’m ready’. I said ‘OK!’ So then we had the opportunity to throw him in."

"It’s that first step to give him the big boost. He looks free, he looks ready and straight away he generated those two big chances. It’s great to have him back."

Arteta added: "He has to earn his place like in any other team. We have alternatives who can play in different positions and we have different goals as well to fill in relation to the chemistry of the players and what we ask them to do. It’s a great problem to have, believe me.

"He was so happy." Arteta continued. "He put a lot into the last few months and all the staff had spent hours together to try to fulfil all his needs. He wanted more and more and more, he was very willing to get back. To see him there with a smile on his face was a joy, I was really happy for him."

Jesus' return means that the only member of the Arsenal squad who will be unavailable next week is Mohamed Elneny, who is still out with a long-term injury.
