Late Night Talking: Harry Styles stays in bed in his new official video

Have you ever had a fantasy of literally diving into your duvet and keeping going? Or whizzing around London on a bed à la Bedknobs and Broomsticks? Or going to the theatre, in bed? Or having delicious meatballs delivered to you on a tray, while you’re – you guessed it – in bed? It seems that Harry Styles certainly has.

The official music video for Late Night Talking has just been released as it sees Styles in a variety of pyjamas and pyjama-adjacent looks – even more than usual – belting out his second single from the comfort of a very many beds.

After waking up in his room, the singer’s first bed-excursion is through a white sheet tunnel. Then he’s at some sort of orgy – but it’s the morning and everyone is just hanging out. Or maybe it’s not an orgy, just an absolutely massive sleepover and everyone’s hugging in the red velvet sheets. Either way, Harry looks happy.

Then there’s a bed in a gallery – which is obviously a nod to Tracey Emin. It’s incredibly fun as most people who enjoy the work of the Young British Artist are likely to have given some thought to what their own bed would look like if it was suddenly lifted up and plonked down in the middle of an exhibition space.

Finally, there’s a more magical-looking four-poster bed which is covered in vines and located in a wheat field. Styles is with two ladies who are looking adoringly at him. But the fun is nearly over – the sky darkens, clouds thunder and Harry’s bed falls through the sky – we assume, right back to reality.

As far as music videos go, it’s great. The three-minute clip seems to fly by as quickly as Styles pops from one scene to another. It is feel good and breezy, exactly like the album.

Some 338,000 people tuned in to see Harry Styles drop the official music video to Late Night Talking, the second song on Styles’ third studio album Harry’s House, which was released in May.

As could have been predicted, the whimsical pop album went straight to number one around the world, including in the UK and on the US Billboard 200.

This isn’t the first music video released for the album. As It Was and its music video were released on April 1 in anticipation of the album. The music video went on to trend worldwide, garnering 226 million views and counting.

Then, a week after his album release, in a skit on the Late Late Show with James Corden, the comedian and the singer went door to door in New York asking for someone to let them film an impromptu music video for Daylight. Finally, a group of women accepted and the music video, directed by Corden, is actually not all bad.

In an interview with Zane Lowe in May, Styles said about the album: “I was kind of like, ‘I’d be really fun to make an album called Harry’s House,’ and thought about it being this smaller thing. As I started making the album, I realised it wasn’t about the geographical location. It’s much more of an internal thing.”
