Late Late Toy Show: Everything you need to know

The highly anticipated Late Late Toy Show is back this weekend for children and adults like.

This year’s programme marks Ryan Tubridy’s 14th year as presenter and will no doubt feature one of his colourful Christmas jumpers. It will be the first Toy Show in recent years to air without Covid-19 restrictions impacting the production.

The annual event is by far Ireland’s most watched TV programme, amassing about 1.56 million viewers on average on the night. RTE remains as tight lipped as ever about the theme of this year’s Toy Show, but there is still plenty of information to divulge ahead of the magical night.

Here’s all the details you need to know ahead of the Late Late Toy Show 2022.

What time does it start?

The Toy Show will grace our screens at 9.35pm on RTE 1, the same slot as the usual Late Late Show programme. It is usually repeated the following day mid afternoon for little ones unable to stay awake for the extravaganza.

Toy Show lovers living abroad can still take part in the fun by watching via RTE player, available on both desktop and the mobile app.

Surprise guests

The Toy Show attracts several famous faces, with celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Dermot Kennedy, Niall Horan and Gary Barlow previously visiting Ryan in studio. This year's guests have not been revealed but there will be some big names.

Late Late Toy Show Appeal

The show has always exhibited goodwill, as all toys shown on the night are later donated to children’s charities. However, the introduction of the Toy Show Appeal has extended the charitable spirit to audiences at home. Viewers raised over €6.5 million in funds last year for charity worldwide. RTE allows viewers to donate through banking app Revolut or alternatively via an online link.

Social media

The show promises to be a fun filled affair for the entire population. People can catch up on the antics from the programme on social media using the hashtag Late Late Toy Show on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
