The Late Late Show chiefs are aiming to get Paul McCartney for Ryan Tubridy's final show later this year.
Tubs is a self-confessed "Beatles nut" and even previously said McCartney is his most desired interviewee. To mark Tubs' final show on May 26, RTE bosses are trying to get the Beatles legend in the studio or on zoom.
An RTE insider told the Irish Sun: "Gay Byrne got a Harley Davidson motorbike from U2 on his last ever Late Late. You can bet Paul McCartney will be turning up to wish Tubs well on his last night on zoom or in the studio.”

Tubs previously said of his dream guest: "For many years, I’ve been asked ‘who would I like to interview?’ I’ve answered it so often and with the same name I think his people have taken an injunction out against me and a protective protection order in case I land in a door in London and say, ‘Please, would you come out and play?’
“That is Paul McCartney and, look, the fact is I’m a Beatles nut. I’m a McCartney guy.”
Speculation has been rife as to who will replace Ryan after he announced he was stepping down at the end of the season. The latest rumour is RTE chiefs are looking at replacing Tubs with two people - a man and a woman that will take turns in the hot seat.
