Lata Mangeshkar's brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar reveals family NOT in support of Shivaji Park memorial; prefers musical institute in her honour

Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022 at a Mumbai hospital due to post-COVID complications. She was cremated at Shivaji Park, Mumbai with full state honours.

The ruling party in Maharashtra has now suggested that a memorial be built in her name at Shivaji Park and her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar has shared his views on the same. According to a report in a news portal, Hridaynath has said that earlier, Aaditya Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray had come up with a proposal to Lata Mangeshkar for a musical institute on her name and she had given a nod to it. According to him, they want that legacy to continue and her musical skills to be kept alive. If they want to celebrate her legacy they will support the music institute and not the memorial.
