It was out with the old and in with the new and the end of an era for the last remaining remnants of Wishaw & District Housing Association.
In 2017 regulators were forced to step in after the not-for-profit housing organisation ran into trouble, stemming from a site which was formerly home to a Tesco store in the town centre adjacent to the Commercial Hotel.
Wishaw & District HA was subsequently taken over in December 2019 by Trust Housing Association after tenants voted overwhelmingly in favour of the move.
And earlier this year a development on the former supermarket site was officially opened.
But more than three-and-a-half years after being absorbed by Trust Housing the Wishaw & District Housing brand was still evident to see, with its own website and Twitter account, which housing bosses claimed could prove “confusing” for customers.
That’s now no longer the case as both the website and social media account ceased earlier this month, with visitors to the website now being redirected and receiving a “Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found” message.
A statement on Trust’s website says: “Welcome to your new website and brand identity!
“The separate Wishaw & District Housing brand, website and Twitter account ceased on Monday 3rd July, replaced by one brand, website and socials under the wider Trust name and identity. The previous Wishaw & District brand and website were dated and the duel branding of Trust and Wishaw & District could be confusing for customers.
“As part of our 50th birthday celebrations in 2023, we have taken the opportunity to re-brand, with a new modern brand identity and website replacing both the existing Trust and Wishaw & District brands and websites.
“The changes will create a stronger, single identity that we hope will provide a smoother and improved experience for our customers across Scotland, and deliver better value for money.”
The approach of moving to one brand and website under the Trust name was approved by the Wishaw & District Area Committee in March 2022.
Rhona McLeod, Trust Housing CEO, said: “Our 50th birthday feels like the right time to introduce a more modern brand for the whole business, and the time also feels right to move away from separate Trust and Wishaw & District brands and websites.”
The web address for the new website is www.trustha.org.uk, to which visitors to the old site will be re-directed. You can also find the housing association on Twitter: @Trust_housing
