Last text 'gentle giant' sent to wife before he swerved into traffic and was killed

A much-loved dad-of-three died in a horror crash just hours after texting his wife to say "I love you", an inquest heard.

But the cause of the horror smash which killed "gentle giant" Wayne Jackson remains a mystery the hearing was told. Wayne, 44, was on his way home from his job as a driver at Manchester Airport at around 3.30 pm on March 4 last year when the Vauxhall Corsa he was driving ploughed into a Mercedes on the A556 in Tabley, near Knutsford.

Senior coroner for Cheshire Alan Moore heard that Mr Jackson, who lived in Northwich, had beforehand for some unknown reason gone over to the wrong side of the road and into the path of oncoming traffic, before then steering the vehicle back into the correct lane.
