The Perfect Cinema

The bash: Katie Grand’s Perfect Magazine hosted a saucy soirée to toast films taken during the making of the latest issue. After kisses at Baker Street’s Everyman Cinema, it was popcorn time, as guests watched the clips cut with commentary by ES Magazine editor Ben Cobb.

The crowd: A fresh faced Lennon Gallagher joined UK Drag Race star Bimini Bon Boulash, who arrived with a fresh beat, while London’s set of new designers Harris Reed, Miss Sohee and Jawara Alleyne gathered for a debrief.

The looks:Iris Law was sparkling clean in a Purcell hand sanitiser print tee which she dressed up with a geometric head scarf and pearl beaded clip dangling on the forehead. Bimini was typically striking in a heart leopard print coat with towering patent platforms while Kesewa Aboah was the cool-girl in a buffed up leather jacket and Adidas trainers.

The lowdown: Having popped a few slices of pizza, the group got ushered into the cosy cinema where Grand made a short speech and the film rolled on. Highlights included front row access to the star strewn Gucci Hollywood Boulevard show – and a model stuffing metal balls down her throat before regurgitating them. Yum!

Feeling Forty

Edward Enninful and Kate Moss (Dave Benett)

The bash: The start of iD Magazine’s nostalgia fest celebrating 40 years in the business kicked off with Editor-in-Chief Alastair McKimm throwing a snug drinks and dinner at Dover Street Market, where champagnes clinked near the new archive book WINK + SMILE! The First Forty Years.

The crowd:Kate Moss led the pack to a candle lit supper in the super store’s upstairs Rose Bakery, before cosying up to Vogue’s Edward Enninful. Elsewhere Jamie Morgan, the photographer behind some of iD’s most famous shots, rubbed shoulders with artist and heartthrob Blondey McCoy and British beauty Fran Summers.

The looks: Chadd Curry (a.k.a Dahc Dermur Vlll), the outlandish DJ and performance artist, made a sure case for the extreme, serving peak club kid gothcore in a glossy red look which bloomed into a statement collar, and was worn with a sharp spiked neck brace. Simone Rocha instead kept it classic in her own lace design, while Moss paired her dark denim with a tux jacket and patent peep-toe Louboutins.

The lowdown: McKimm started his speech thanking Enninful, who at 18 had become iD’s fashion director – the youngest ever for an international mag. “He met me when I was just out of college, 20 years old, fresh off the boat,” McKimm said. After came a stream of tasty plates, enjoyed over hearty reminiscing.
