From the early hours at Chiltern Firehouse to heady nights at The Standard or posh nosh at The V&A, we have your lowdown on the laughs, the looks and the dedicated scenesters making London nightlife electric.
Tens across the board
The bash: Celebrating 50 years of pride, the CÎROC Iconic Ball brought the ballroom scene to the centre of London, and saw contestants model against eachother before being marked out of 10. There was a star studded judge panel who watched on, sipping pornstar martinis. Much like Da Vinci’s The Last Supper, Jourdan Dunn sat centre, with singers Jade Thirlwall, Melanie C and Bree Runway, and models Stella Maxwell and Leomie Anderson either side.
The crowd: Koko Camden’s nightclub was packed on all floors with the queer London set. Designers including Julien MacDonald, Giles Deacon and Maximilian Raynor had their designs worn on the runway and cheered on front row, alongside the likes of Princess Julia and Pam Hogg.
The looks: Little Mix star Thirlwall stuck to the theme in her rainbow shade, Paco Rabanne disc dress, and Maxwell had attitude in a slouchy white suit worn with a bra and corset. The best looks came in the category competitions, though – dancers were painted yellow with leopard print spots and trans pride flag colour corsets came with bustles and protest signs.
The lowdown: As moments go, British Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful locking lips with the Ted Brown is one to remember. Brown helped put on the UK’s first gay Pride and led the 2000-person strong kiss in at Trafalgar Square in 1972. “I think we should recreate the moment,” he said on stage, as Enninful award handed him an Icon award. They did - and the room went wild.
Sparkling Serpentine
The bash:The Serpentine Museum’s annual summer party – a highlight of London’s social calendar – was toned down from the lavish blast which is normally thrown. Yesterday, an earlier evening which wrapped up at 9pm, saw friends of the establishment congregate for a ‘private gathering’.
The crowd: Despite being reduced in capacity this year, the guest list did not suffer for lack of A-listers. Anna Wintour, Harris Reed and Sam Smith turned heads when they lined up for their group shot, while like likes of Iris Law, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Talulah Riley grabbed glasses of champagne outside.
The looks: Model Adwoa Aboah looked effortlessly cool in a full length feather overcoat by London based brand 16Arlington. Harris Reed wore a look from his Spring 22 collection, which he presented with a show at the Serpentine Musuem last September, while upcoming designer Conner Ives arrived in a white tux jacket, bow tie, and blue sports shorts.
The lowdown: The best accessory of the evening turned out to be an umbrella. As a June shower hammered down, guests were forced undercover and reached for a brolly to save their hair.
