Laser eye surgeon faces tribunal following 'lies over ops blunders'

A laser eye surgeon is facing a tribunal over claims he signed forms for procedures he did not perform, including one said to have ruined a patient’s sight.

Evidence from two patients will be heard as Dr Prashant Jindal’s fitness to practice is considered.

One patient, Greg Brady, 36, from Hook, Hants, paid £3,500 for an operation at a private clinic in Fulham, South West London, on December 28, 2016.

In an interview four years ago, the carpenter said he was left with blurred vision and severe photophobia which means he cannot open his eyes without extreme pain and has to spend almost all his time in a darkened room. He claimed it meant he is unable to work or pursue his passion for boxing and was left living off benefits.

The allegation states: “Dr Jindal indicated he had carried out the procedures.

“It is alleged that [he] knew he had not and his actions were dishonest.”

The tribunal in Manchester, which starts tomorrow, will run until June 10.
