The newest casino on the Las Vegas Strip, Resorts World Las Vegas, planted its flag on the North Strip.
An oasis in a sparsely populated area, the massive project, which opened during the dark days of the covid pandemic, in a number of ways has tried to establish itself as a destination.
First, Resorts World Las Vegas simply offers an impressive experience, with enough going on that you don't need to head down to the South and Central Strip areas, which are dominated by Caesars Entertainment (CZR) and MGM Resorts International (MGM).
The Resorts property offers a massive food hall, multiple modern performance venues, countless restaurants, and a top-tier casino,

The North Strip property also has built part of its appeal on being a convenient place to stay for people visiting the Las Vegas Convention Center. While the Vegas monorail brings people to the LVCC from the Caesars and MGM properties, Resorts World has a special connection to the convention center: It's the first property linked by Elon Musk's underground Hyperloop system.
Resorts World touts that on its website:
Step into all-electric Tesla vehicles for a swift shuttle to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Rides can be taken with others or alone, as a more private and efficient alternative to Las Vegas’s standard public transit options. As the only hotel with a station connected to Las Vegas Convention Center, the Resorts World Las Vegas passenger station will offer direct access to the heart of the resort’s dining, retail, and nightlight offerings, as well as convenient access to the Las Vegas Strip.
Now, that connection to the LVCC isn't enough for Resorts World, as the new player has major plans to get into the convention business itself.
Resorts World Wants to Become a Major Convention Player
Resorts World submitted plans to Clark County and the Winchester Town Board on May 30 for a large convention center, KLAS reported.
"The convention center would be located on the northwest corner of the property and integrated into a currently unfinished part of the original project," the television station reported. "According to plans, the convention center would be a total of 370,000 square feet with more than 255,000 square feet dedicated to convention and public space."
After a request for comment from TheStreet, Resorts World said:
"As the newest integrated resort in the most dynamic part of the Las Vegas Strip, Resorts World Las Vegas is moving forward with a number of significant new projects to enhance our guest amenities and experience, including the expansion of our convention, meeting, and events center."
The plans for the project, which must be approved by Clark County, were designed by Marnell Architecture of Las Vegas, which designed a convention-center expansion for Aria Resorts & Casino, as well as The Beatles Love Theater at The Mirage, Casino.org reported.
Resorts World offers three separate hotels -- the Hilton, the Conrad Las Vegas, and Crocksford Las Vegas -- on the property.
