Larne defender Kofi Balmer agrees three-year deal with Crystal Palace

Larne defender Kofi Balmer has agreed a three-year deal with Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old has been on the radar of the Premier League club this summer and Palace have finally got their man.

Patrick Vieira's side recently agreed a fee for the Northern Ireland youth international and now Balmer has finalised terms with the London outfit, Sky Sports are reporting.

Despite his young age, Balmer has amassed over 130 Irish League appearances and has been capped 11 times for Northern Ireland Under 21s.

Last season he made 41 appearances in all competitions for Larne as the Inver Park club retained the Co Antrim Shield before finishing fifth in the Premiership.

Former Northern Ireland defender Stephen Craigan believes it will be a "brilliant move" for Balmer.

He told the Belfast Telegraph: “I really like Kofi as a player. This will be a brilliant move for him. He’s moved from Ballymena United to Larne and now Palace, which shows you the pathway is there.”
