Largs-Cumbrae ferry service disrupted causing long delays for passengers

THE ferry between Largs and Cumbrae is being disrupted by technical problems.

There is currently a queue heading back to Sandringham on the Largs side, according to locals.

The breakdown is affecting MV Loch Shira, with a smaller ferry, MV Loch Riddon, operating the route on its own at a reduced capacity.

Due to the good weather, the ferry operator said at the weekend there was at least a 30 minute wait time for vehicles travelling from Largs to the island. Estimates rose to two hours.

Cal Mac put out a statement at 9.20am on Wednesday addressing the technical fault.

A spokesperson said: "Due to a technical issue, a smaller vessel is operating this service with a reduced vehicle capacity.

"Customers should allow additional time for their journey as delays and queues are expected."
