Oldham Way reopens after pedestrian reportedly hit by car

A large cordon was in place last night and into the early hours of this morning on a major road in Oldham after a person was reportedly hit by a car.

Oldham Way was shut off westbound between Cross Street and Prince Street.

A large emergency services presence was at the scene, which is close to Oldham town centre.

It is thought that the road was closed shortly after 8pm this evening, February 2.

The M.E.N understands that the collision involved a pedestrian and a silver Vauxhall Corsa, which stopped at the scene.

Traffic police have since left the scene, as the Serious Collision Unit continues to investigate.

A witness said that there were 'around five' police cars also in attendance.

"It seems like a car has gone through the crossing at the junction of Prince Street and that is where they have hit the person," they said.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.
