US musician David Anthony Burke, known onstage as D4vd, has been arrested for the murder of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed.
Hernandez was found dead in Hollywood in the back of D4vd’s Tesla trunk in September, with the arrest following a months-long investigation led by the Robbery-Homicide Division.
“The Homicide Division have arrested David Burke, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, for the murder of Celeste Rivas,” the LAPD said in a statement.
D4vd is currently being held without bail, with the case to be presented to the District Attorney’s office early next week.
It marks the latest development in a case that began late last year, when neighbours near a Hollywood Hills parking lot alerted authorities to a rotting smell in the back of a Tesla registered in D4vd’s name.
Police found a dismembered body that had been placed inside of a bag in the trunk of the vehicle.
A spokesperson for D4vd said in September that he was “fully cooperating” with the authorities, but by November it was reported he was no longer involved in the investigation.

Hernandez was reported missing from her home in Lake Elsinore, California last year. She was last seen in April 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The extent of D4vd’s connection to Rivas has not been revealed, but reports indicate the pair were romantically linked at some stage.
D4vd has remained virtually silent on the case, but he did quietly cancel his US tour and postpone the promotion of his deluxe album at the height of the investigation last year.
In September, Australian music festival Spilt Milk removed D4vd from the lineup of its 2025 edition, saying the decision was made “out of respect for the unfolding story”.
