A Nottinghamshire mum has opened up on her fight to keep her disabled son safely at home. Eight-year-old George Appleyard has been through 112 surgeries but now needs adaptions to his Langwith home so that he can comfortably remain in the property.
The youngster is a 28-week twin and has multiple difficulties including quadriplegic cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, sleep disorder, epilepsy, global development delay, chronic lung disease, short bowel disease, bilateral hip dislocation and diatonic spasms and an abnormal vascular system. But as George grows older, his family have raised concerns that he may struggle to live in his family home.
Mum Claire said the property needs £86,000 worth of adaptions, but Bassetlaw Council can only provide £30,000. Now the care assistant is raising funds to help her son remain safely at home with his dad and twin sister.
