The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament will get underway at Liverpool Cricket Club on Thursday afternoon, with 20th anniversary of the event running for three days.
The tournament, which is the largest and longest-running tennis exhibition in Europe, starts on Thursday 16 June and finishes on Saturday 18 June. The competition combines Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and legend players during its duration.
The event, which was formally hosted at Calderstones Park before a move to Liverpool Cricket Club in 2017, will host a women's and men's singles competition, as well as a County Mix Double Championship.
In recent days a whole host of international stars have been announced as part of the lineup as Argentine player Nadia Podoroska, who made it to the French Open semi-final in 2020, was the latest to confirm her involvement.
Romanian Alexandra Cadantu will also play at the tournament as she prepares for Wimbledon.
For the men's categories, Dimitar Kuzmanov will use the 20th anniversary of the tournament to prepare for Wimbledon, which takes place at the start of July.
Liverpool FC fanatic Marcus Willis returns to the tournament, having competed in 2021, along with former British Davis Cup team member James Ward.
Former winner Alessandro Giannessi is back hoping to lift the trophy for a second time after his 2018 victory. He said: "‘I am so excited to come back to Liverpool and play on the great court at the Liverpool Cricket Club, seeing the list of players that have won the tournament over the years makes me really proud and I hope I can recreate my win from back in 2018.”
Tickets start at £16.50 and can be purchased here.
