An Islington landlord who refused to provide a kitchen for a tenant must pay out £40,000 for breaching his property licence.
Mohammed Shahid was taken to court by Islington Council for failing to comply with licensing regulations - in at least 15 recorded instances.
One tenant was forced to cook in their bedroom, the court heard, in one case in which Shahid did not fulfil his duties.
After being sentenced in January before Highbury Magistrates’ Court, Shahid had his appeal dismissed at Snaresbrook Crown Court on June 30.
