As the weather heats up, people are looking for the best ways to enjoy the sun. And there's nothing better than a trip to the beach, followed by a trip to the pub for a cold pint or something to eat.
Whether you're looking for a beachy walk followed by a hearty meal, or sunbathing and a few pints, there's something in Lancashire for everyone.

Lancashire is host to a number of lovely beaches, with great pubs only within walking distance from the shore. LancsLive have put together a list of the very best so you can enjoy your weekend catching rays.
Blackpool Beach
Lots of people travel from across the UK to visit Blackpool each year. The whole family will love relaxing in the sun, taking a dip in the sea and enjoying an ice cream along the promenade in Blackpool.
Blackpool is also the only British beach resort to boast three fabulous piers so you won't be stuck for things to do while you're here. The only Blackpool Pier to hold Grade II listed status, the North Pier is a wonderful starting point for exploring Blackpool’s beaches.
But don't forget about the Central Pier and South Pier while you're here. When you're done there are plenty of places to visit for a drink and something to eat, but why not check out the Beach House Bistro and Bar which is only a two minute walk from the North Pier.
They cater for lunchtime and evening meals offering everything you need to eat, drink, relax and party with friends and family.
Lytham St Annes Beach
St Anne's beach has it all. When the tide is in, it’s the perfect spot to paddle in the water and enjoy cleaner coastlines; and when the tide is out, vast sand space make for sandcastle building and space for the whole family - even dogs to run around.
It has also been rated the best beach in Lancashire so you must give this one a try. Behind the beach is a large grassy area featuring attractive gardens, a boating lake and Lytham’s iconic green windmill as well as plenty of places to eat and drink.
It is less than a 10 minute drive to get to Station Pub and Grill when you're done for the day and have worked up an appetite. The website explains: "The original railway station serving the town of “Leafy” Lytham, Station Pub & Grill is one of the town’s most popular venues, welcoming customers from across the Fylde coast and beyond."
Morecambe Beach
The beach itself is mainly sandy and can be popular with beachgoers in the summer months. There is no lifeguard cover and visitors need to beware of the dangers in the area.
So if you're up for building a sandcastle this could be the perfect place for you. However, if you're bringing a dog, be aware they are banned from the beach from the start of May to the end of September.
They are however allowed on the promenade but must be kept on leads. When you're done for the day only an eight-minute walk away is the Kings Arms pub that is opposite the famous Eric Morecambe statue.
The website explains: "We serve delicious breakfasts until noon each day and offer our extensive main menu until 9pm."
Silverdale Beach
If you’re looking for a kids day out at the beach but want a quieter more rural beach than say Blackpool or Southport further down the coast, then Silverdale beach is said to be perfect. It has been hailed as a 'hidden gem'.
With a huge expanse of sandy beach to run around on and make the obligatory sand castle, small rocky cliffs with caves to explore, and pebbled areas to play and discover, it’s a great family day out. There are plenty of village shops to pick up some bits for a picnic too.
Then we're you're all tired out and need to refuel, the good news is there's a pub only a three-minute walk away. Family run by Richard, Caroline, Alan and Mary Binks since 2016.
The Silverdale Hotel offers a very warm welcome in a traditional pub environment, a wide selection of well-kept and ever changing Real Ales, Craft Lagers and a wine list from around the world, it sounds like the perfect end to the day.
Leisure Lakes
A lake in Lancashire with its own 'beach', play area and pub, what more could you want?
Spread across more than 300 acres of countryside, Leisure Lakes is a campsite located just off The Gravel in Mere Brow. This allows people from far and wide to come and visit - as well as those who live close by.
There are a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy - including a huge fishing lake and a jet ski centre. By the lake, there is a section of sand where people can sit, sunbathe and watch as people whizz by on the water. There is also an ice cream kiosk and a pub called Western Frontier.
