Lanarkshire wellbeing charity strides out to raise cash to continue vital work

An East Kilbride wellbeing charity strode out to help raise funds to continue its vital work.

Agape Wellbeing held a sponsored walk recently at James Hamilton Heritage Park, raising £800.

The charity is dedicated to helping the local community achieve positive wellbeing through services and activities.

Agape Wellbeing is supported through its children’s charity shop, Agape Kidz, which sells high quality new and preloved items from clothing to toys and prams.

And Agape Kidz also provides a Family Hub, which supports families with young children.

For the sponsored walk, staff, volunteers and service users walked around the park covering a total of 50 miles, which worked out as a team they had to cover three laps of the whole park.

They had a fabulous turnout of 27, who all walked around the park and targets were met.

Joining them on the day was local MSP Collette Stevenson, who is a big supporter of the charity.

The charity were also fortunate to be approached by a local Zumba class leader who very kindly held a charity Zumba night where all the profit were donated to Agape's work, raising a total of £210.

Funds raised from both events will be used to take those who attend the charity's services on a trip this summer.

For many who attend this will be the only time they get away this year for various reasons and the charity appreciates the generosity of all who donated.

Agape Wellbeing manager, Drew McKinney, said: "I am really delighted with the tremendous spirit and effort shown by all who participated in both events.

"Like many other charities these days Agape Wellbeing is no different in that we have to continually require to source our funding through application of grants or fundraising.

"As a progressive thinking charity, we believe strongly in applying a person-centred led approach to all that we do at Agape Wellbeing.

"We are all pulling together to continue to have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of all involved at Agape."
