Professional cookery students and chefs from an East Kilbride-based college cooked up a storm at the annual MasterChefs of Great Britain lunch and awards.
The event was held in the prestigious Prestonfield five-star hotel in Edinburgh recently.
At the event, four current South Lanarkshire College (SLC) students and two former students collaborated to create six varieties of canapés for 400 esteemed guests.
These included woodland mushroom tuille, creamed black ash vegan cheese and onion and thyme Crumble and ale braised ox cheek, caramelised shallot puree and potato foam with onion and chive crumb.
The team’s chef lecturer, David Auchie, told Lanarkshire Live : “I am extremely proud of team SLC.
"They worked hard across the weekend and into the Monday, prior to the lunch, allowing for precision and detail to enhance the canapes' flavour profiles."
The SLC student team were also given an award during the prestigious event for their ‘outstanding contribution’ to the COP 26 climate conference which was held in Glasgow last year and where they cooked for world-leaders past and present.
SLC students Shannon Lippiatt, Ellie Turner, Eddy Gonzalez, Jackie Chan, Titin Fatimah and Nellie Dokie were presented with a glass trophy for their efforts at COP 26.
They were also given a framed certificate for the lunch at Prestonfield to celebrate their success at the MasterChefs event.
The students were then invited to enjoy the six course lunch with their peers.
