A Lanarkshire rotary club have played their part in helping refugees from Russia's invasion of Ukraine by holding a fundraising evening.
Cambuslang Rotary Club have held several events throughout the year, aimed at helped Ukrainians who have moved to the area due to the situation in their homeland.
The evening at Cambuslang Rugby Club was organised as a joint venture between the Rotary Club and local Ukrainian families led by Tetyana Barnes, a Cambuslang resident who is very involved with the organisation Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine in Glasgow.
Earlier this year the Rotary worked with Tetyana in the summer to provide Aldi vouchers for newly arrived Ukrainian refugees.
Following on the success of that project it was felt there was a need to raise further funds to help support the work of Humanitarian Aid and their family hub at St Michael’s Church in Parkhead.
The evening began with a welcome from Rotarian Bill Crombie who had organised the night along with Tetyana, and then the guests were treated to a traditional Ukrainian style buffet meal, served by some of the young people who have recently arrived in Scotland from Ukraine.
Interspersed throughout the night was entertainment from opera singer Tetyana Vasilyeva and the multi talented Volodimer Schmidt Cosplay who started off tap dancing like Fred Astaire and concluded with a Freddie Mercury tribute.
There was also a raffle and an auction for some bigger prizes.
A Rotary club spokesperson said: "The Rotary Club would like to thank all the people who combined to make it such a successful night.
"A special thanks to Tetyana Barnes, and her team of Ukrainian helpers, and to the two talented entertainers, everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes, Eda Turkish restaurant for their food and Cambuslang Rugby Club for offering their venue. "
