A once-popular pub has gone up in flames just months after it was forced to close due to spiralling costs.

Emergency services descended on The Bullfrog Bar and Lounge on Shields Road in Motherwell around 3.45pm on Sunday after a blaze broke out.

Huge plumes of smoke were seen billowing up into the sky as the building was engulfed in flames.
