A Lanarkshire beauty spot dug deep to sow the seeds of success thanks to green-fingered volunteers.
Langlands Moss in East Kilbride held a tree planting event recently with supporters turning out in force despite the torrential rain.
The group who run the nature reserve on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council - Friends of Langlands Moss (FOLM) - secured a grant to help mark the 75th anniversary of EK new town.
Funds were used to to buy and plant 125 Scottish native trees to create natural habitat and screening between the Moss and factories on Langlands Drive.
Susan Miller, FOLM secretary, told Lanarkshire Live : "We planted a selection of Oak, Sycamore, Rowan, Crab Apple, Wild Cherry, Alder and Buckthorn trees.
"We can't thank Graeme Dalby from Beechgrove Trees and Hedging enough for his advice, support and personal service he gave us from our first enquiry through to delivering his products.
"We will definitely use him again for further planned projects
"We are also very grateful to Dougie Thomas and his team at Kents in Langlands Square for his continuing support to the Friends of Langlands Moss and particularly for allowing us to use his storage yard and even paying staff to come in and help us move the trees/stakes round onto the Moss. Much appreciated as always.
"Our supportive MSP, Colette Stevenson, also came along and got stuck into the planting.
"And of course, a huge thanks goes to the wonderful 20 volunteers who turned out in the torrential rain and completed the tree planting. Thank you all."
