A Strathaven mum has conquered a fundraising challenge to walk 310,000 steps in October for the National Deaf Children's Society.
Lisa Sultana completed the challenge on Monday, October 31, walking an average of 10,000 steps each day.
She achieved the total distance through a combination of early morning and post-work jogs around her local area, and chasing after her very active two-year-old son Louis.
Primary school teacher Lisa, who lives with husband, Joe, was inspired to take on the challenge for the National Deaf Children's Society because her daughter Lucy, four, became deaf as a result of contracting meningitis earlier this year.
The family has been receiving ongoing support and will soon be attending British Sign Language classes from the charity.
The mum has smashed her fundraising target, with over £450 raised to date, and hopes to reach £500 for the charity, which supports the UK’s 50,000 deaf children and their families.
Lisa told Lanarkshire Live : “I wanted to raise awareness of this fantastic charity.
"They have been a huge support to my family since Lucy was identified as deaf in February.
“Lucy asked me every day if I’d done my steps. Sometimes I had Lucy and Louis chase me around the house to complete my daily quota, which they loved.”
“We will always be grateful to them for helping us through a very tough and challenging time. I wanted to show our appreciation and gratitude by helping to raise funds so they can continue their incredible work.”

"Ten thousand steps a day for a whole month is quite a daunting challenge and we’re very grateful to her.
“The National Deaf Children’s Society is dedicated to supporting the UK’s 50,000 deaf children and their families. The efforts of fundraisers like Lisa will help us to keep on doing our vital work, now and into the future.”
