A third truck-full of donations arrived in Poland from East Kilbride as the aid effort continues for Ukrainian refugees fleeing war.
St Bride's parish priest, Father Rafal Sobieszuk, has been co-ordinating an appeal along with other churches in the town and businesses and volunteers.
This has seen tonnes of aid reach his homeland of Eastern Poland, where many refugees have fled.
Fr Sobieszuk also made the journey home once again to help unload the haul of donations and has seen for himself the plight of refugees and the dedication of volunteers based in Poland.
He told Lanarkshire Live: "Unfortunately, the war in Ukraine continues unabated.
"In St Bride’s Church we continue our appeal and on the Friday of Easter week we resumed receiving donations of different items.
"We have collected so many items for the Ukrainian refugees that we were able to send a third lorry filled with donations.
"On the Wednesday of Holy Week our team of 18 people drove to the Coca-Cola factory in East Kilbride.
"These volunteers come from my church, from St Vincent’s Church and elsewhere in the town.
"At 9pm the lorry arrived at the factory from Poland and we started the process of loading.
"We loaded 842 cardboard boxes on to the trailer.
"There was about eight tonnes of donations which included clothes and shoes for men, women and children, medical equipment, baby food, milk, wipes, nappies, bedding and more besides.
"I am very grateful to Brian Finnigan, a teacher and one of our volunteers who helped me preparing the paperwork for the shipment."
On Maundy Thursday, a group of 50 people from the congregation gathered to see the third truck off with Fr Sobieszuk then meeting the aid convoy in Eastern Poland for the unloading of donations.
He went on: "The transportation went very smoothly; the drivers were stopped shortly after the crossing of Polish border by the Polish inspectors who, when they saw the Red Cross and the signs of humanitarian aid just waived the drivers on.
"On Easter Thursday, the lorry reached its destination and we began unloading the boxes.
"We were assisted by charity workers there from Caritas Siedlce, two catholic priests and some students from the university chaplaincy.
"I was working inside of the lorry passing out the boxes.
"Caritas Siedlce then loaded two vans of humanitarian aid which were sent on to Ukraine.
"It was another successful humanitarian aid transportation from East Kilbride, a great achievement by so many."
There are plans to send a fourth truck next month.
Fr Sobieszuk added: "I would like to say thank you to Jim McLusky from Enviro-Clean who covered the cost of transportation of the third lorry to Eastern Poland.
"I am also grateful to him for allowing me to use one of his vans and would once again like to thank Coca-Cola for allowing us to use their premises for storing the donations and the help they have provided."
Donations can be dropped off in St Bride’s Hall/Pastoral Centre, G74 1NN, every Friday between 11am and 5pm or contact the church if you wish to donate out-with these times.
Both in Ukraine and in Poland they do not require any more clothes, but donations of food, toiletries, medical equipment, blankets, sleeping bags, bedding and items for children and women.
