A maniac quad bike rider left his passenger with brain bleeds and a fractured skull after careering into a roundabout in North Lanarkshire.
Patrick Lally was riding the motor around Wishaw in May 2021. His passenger was Jordan Reilly and neither were wearing a crash helmet.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that the quad bike was spotted speeding through the town by locals, 'skipping and jumping' over the road surface. Lally, 33, lost control of the vehicle while trying to take a roundabout.
The motor toppled over and both motorists were hurled off onto the ground. Reilly's head hit the ground and the quad bounced off his body, leaving the 36-year-old unconscious.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and Reilly was taken to University Hospital Wishaw where he was treated for a fractured skull and multiple bleeds on his brain.
Lally, of Wishaw, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted causing injury by dangerous driving in May 2021.
Depute fiscal Aga Mathieson said: "At around 6.40am a witness observed a red/orange quad bike and observed two adults on the quad with neither men wearing helmets. She observed the quad bike to speed up and was skipping and jumping on the road surface and it accelerated away from her.
"Another road user observed the quad bike to overtake his vehicle and thereafter he observed the driver almost lose control when negotiating a roundabout. Another road user observed the quad bike travelling at high speed and saw it lose traction and carry sideways while the driver, the accused, was trying to regain control.
"The quad bike was moving sideways out of control in the other direction and the driver accelerating caused it to topple and send the accused and passenger onto the carriageway."

The prosecutor added: "Jordan Reilly hit the ground first and was lying motionless. The quad bike landed on top of him before bouncing off him and coming to a halt in the road.
"Members of the public attended, ambulances were called and Reilly eventually regained consciousness and was taken to hospital. There were no long lasting injuries and no scarring."
Sheriff Colin Dunipace deferred sentence on Lally until next month for reports and continued bail.
He said: "This is clearly a very serious matter. You have an unenviable driving record but I'm required to get background reports in this case."
Lally was also banned from driving.
