A man has appeared in court today accused of murdering Emma Caldwell and dumping her body in South Lanarkshire.
Iain Packer, 49, allegedly murdered the 27-year-old in 2005.
Emma was reported missing in April 2005 before her body was found in woodlands near Biggar, a month later.
Packer made no plea to the murder charge at a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court through his advocate John Brannigan.
Packer is also accused of numerous further charges which include rape, sexual assault and abduction.
In total, he faces 38 charges, including eleven charges of rape against several women.
He was remanded in custody pending further examination by sheriff Mark McGuire.
Packer, of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, will appear in court again within the next eight days.
