Lanarkshire Lowland League side scrap ticket prices for home games due to cost of living crisis

A Lanarkshire Lowland League club are leading the way in an initiative aimed at easing the financial burden on football fans during the cost of living and energy crisis in Scotland.

After consultation with their fans, players and staff, North Lanarkshire based Caledonian Braves have decided to scrap ticket prices for its home games at Alliance Park.

A ‘pay what you can’ policy will be adopted for the club’s Lowland League and South of Scotland games.

Club owner, Chris Ewing, told Lanarkshire Live : “It’s in incredibly difficult time for people across Scotland and we feel this is the right thing to do at this time.

“Football games should be an enjoyable experience and certainly should not be a financial burden on our fans.

“Although disappointed that these measures are necessary, we are pleased to be able to offer football fans free entry to our games.

“In these challenging times, it is paramount that our fans feel duly considered and supported.”

Caledonian Braves, coached by Ricky Waddell, currently sit third in the Lowland League.

Their next home league match is on October 1 against East Kilbride at 3pm.
