A Shotts landscaper who sold cannabis on the side was caught with drugs and a five-figure cash sum.
Craig Telfer narrowly avoided a prison sentence at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.
The 33-year-old admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis at his home in Shiel Gardens on April 2 last year.
He also admitted possession of psilocin, a Class A psychedelic substance
Alice Carey, prosecuting, said police officers searched Telfer’s bedroom and seized a half kilo of green herbal material with a street value of £3,560.
She added: “They also found a quantity of bags and digital scales. In addition, £13,746 was recovered from the property.”
Listing his services on Facebook, Telfer wrote ‘Fencing, decking, artificial grass, real grass, pressure washing, grass cutting - anything else just ask’.
Defence agent Jim O’Dowd told the court: “He’s a hard-working man who set up his own business and that is doing reasonably well.
“He was supplying friends and there was an element of funding his own drug addiction, but there was some financial gain for him.”
Sheriff John Speir put Telfer under supervision for a year as an alternative to prison.
He was also fined £370, ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid community work and electronically tagged for two months. The sheriff ordered confiscation of the money seized.
