Lanarkshire Karate Academy celebrate 2022 achievements at annual awards

The achievements of 2022 were recognised at Lanarkshire Karate Club recently, as youngsters picked up prizes for their accomplishments.

Members of the Airdrie-based club met at the up for their end of year awards presentation and Christmas Party – where a fantastic night was had by all.

LKA also held a raffle with all money raised going towards the club funds for competitions in 2023.

The award winners on the night were as follows:

Best newcomer junior – Jude Greechan

Best newcomer senior – Megan McLean

Most promising junior grade – Amelia Harvie

Most promising Kyu grade – Kian McGeachy

Most improved student – Tyler Gibson

Best attendance – Harrison Carty

Best attitude – Ziva Alexander

Most improved Kumite – Keir McDonald

Most improved Kata – Dominic Griniuk

Kata performance of the year – Keir McGeachy (Liege Open Belgium gold medallist)

Kumite performance of the year – Emmie McEwan (WKF Youth League Croatia gold medallist)

Kumite performance of the year – Sebastian Magilton (Polish International Open Gold medallist)

Coaches choice award – Heather Mackay

Students choice award –Daniel McPake

Team mate of the year –Eva Cochrane

Competitor of the year – Dominic Griniuk

Overall student of the year – Emmie McEwan

Sensei Chantelle Allan said: “A fantastic evening was had last night at our LKA end of year awards presentation and Christmas party.

“Massive congratulations to the club members on their awards and achievements, as well as our 2022 International medallists on their recognition awards.

“Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and handed in raffle prizes, all money raised from the raffle will go to the club fund.

“I would just like to say a huge thank you to all members, parents, families and friends who came along and made it a special and crazy night.

“Let’s see what is in store for 2023.”
