A Lanarkshire hotel gifted a care home with an afternoon tea for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Residents from Flemington Care Home in Cambuslang were treated to a very special afternoon tea.
Staff from the Alona Hotel in Motherwell donated the 87 residents of the home with boxes of sandwiches, cakes, fudge and a box of party-themed items such as flags and buntings to get them into the spirit.
General Manager, Nadine Jebali of the Alona, told Lanarkshire Live : “We’re all aware of how tough it has been for care home residents over the last few years, and we were really keen to show our support and demonstrate that people really do care by providing a celebratory afternoon tea.
“I’m a great supporter and volunteer for the charity, Re-engage.
"It provides social connection events for the older community and I’ve experienced first-hand the pleasure and positive impact tea parties can have.
“Our chefs really enjoyed preparing the feast which was greatly welcomed by residents and staff.
"There was a terrific atmosphere, and we had a great time chatting to the residents.”
Mark Cumming from Flemington Care Home added: “For the residents of Flemington, along with other homes, the past two years have been exceptionally difficult with activities curtailed and normal visiting restricted.
“When the team at the Alona Hotel offered to provide them with the catering and other items for their jubilee party the residents were overjoyed with the kindness extended to them.”
