The organisers of a popular Lanarkshire fireworks display set to attract thousands of people have pleaded for sponsorship help to ensure future events go with a bang.
The Halfway Fireworks display 2022 will be held at the Newton park and ride car park in Cambuslang on November 5.
The all day bash includes an afternoon fun fair, followed by a fireworks display in the evening.
However the display is organised by volunteers from community group Particip8 Overton and the 217 Gilbertfield Company BB, which means they also require support in arranging everything.
In a statement, organisers said: "We are working hard to ensure this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever at our new location – Newton Station Car Park.
"Last year’s fireworks display attracted a crowd of more than 2000 people and we are very confident that this year’s display will exceed that number.
"The event is free for all of our local residents, families, organisations, and visitors who have come from all over including North and South Lanarkshire, Glasgow and as far as Dundee!
"It’s run entirely by officers of the 217 Gilbertfield Company BB and Particip8 Overton with local community volunteers doing a superb stewarding job.
"The display is fully insured, and we have invested in state-of-the-art equipment and high-quality fireworks to ensure that residents will be treated to fantastic fireworks displays whilst making sure that safety is our highest priority.
"We have also organised a small number of fairground rides, while hot food and drinks will be available to purchase from 2pm.
"We would be very grateful for any sponsorship donations as the event is completely self-financing, and, with our rising cost of Council license fee, we rely on your generous donations to enable us to continue with the event in future years. "
If anyone wishes to help the group they can message contact@particip8overton.com for further details.
The fun day kicks off at 2pm, with the fireworks display taking place from 7pm onwards.
Admission is free but donations are encouraged.
