Lanarkshire dog owner fined £450 after mistreatment left it with 'significant suffering' for a year

A Carluke man has been fined £450 following an investigation by the Scottish SPCA.

David McStay, 33, pled guilty at Lanark Sheriff Court on December 23 for failing to provide adequate veterinary treatment for his dog, Cassie, a 13-year-old lurcher.

Scottish SPCA inspector Heather Lawson said, “On 18 November 2020 we attended an address in Carluke following a call to our helpline from a member of the public who was concerned about several dogs at the property.
