A number of Wishaw community stalwarts have been recognised in the Scottish Parliament for their outstanding work.

These include the Murdostoun Stand With Ukraine group, led by Andzej and Izabela Wojdak, who have orchestrated donation points, collected essential items, organised logistics of transport to Poland and Ukraine.
The motion “commends everyone who has donated their time, items and money to the humanitarian appeals, and hopes that peace in Ukraine will be restored and democracy upheld, and encourages anybody who wishes to support Ukraine to donate to the Disaster Emergency Committees Ukraine Appeal.”
The MSP also commended Wishaw pensioner Gordon Hunter who has taken it upon himself to clean up one area of the town near to the Cambusnethan Miners Club.
On her motion Ms Adamson states: “That the Parliament recognises Gordon Hunter from Wishaw, on his clean-up efforts in his local community; understands that Gordon has been clearing up areas of woodland on and around Woodhall Road in Wishaw in a bid to make it more environmentally friendly.
"It also commends Gordon on taking it upon himself to clean up the road, which it understands has been plagued by litter; thanks him for his commitment to keeping his community beautiful, and wishes him all the best for the future.”
Others recognised included Cambusnethan Miners’ Welfare ABC success at Western District Championships and Wishaw lollipop lady Sarah Cassidy who recently retired after 40 years of service.
