A Lanarkshire beautician has been shortlisted for a sought after industry award.
Leeanne Niven from Cambuslang has been selected as one of the six finalists for The Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards (SHABA) for the Best Training School.
The 34-year-old started her training academy three years ago but initially found it difficult due to the Covid restrictions that were constantly changing for businesses.
However, since restrictions were lifted, the salon owner has gone from strength to strength with her training academy at Etre Belle salon in Cambuslang.
Leeanne told Lanarkshire Live: “For me, I’ve always been interested in beauty therapy. It was initially make-up that I went to college for, but I went on to do an NQ beauty course and fell in love with it. I love making people feel great about themselves.
"I’ve done beauty therapies for more than 10 years now, but always wanted more and always wanted to teach. Here I am with a successful training academy, and I’m already like,' right what’s next'?
“It feels on top of the world to be nominated as the best trainer. I still can't believe that it’s real; I’m up against some big guns and really talented people but am truly grateful and happy that I’ve made the top six.
“One of the other finalists in the category is actually one of the students I’ve trained, while lots of my students are up in other categories. Everyone’s done amazing.”
The beautician will have to wait till the SHABA awards ceremony on Sunday, September 11, which is taking place at Glasgow Hilton, to find out if she has won.
