Police have issued an update on road safety fears on a Lanarkshire road "prone to accidents" in recent times.
The force has been working with South Lanarkshire Council (SLC) to address a number of concerns raised by Hamilton residents.
It comes after another accident occurred on the A72, Carlisle Road, last week which saw a female driver hospitalised.
Residents in the Ferniegair area of the town have since described the number of incidents as "ridiculous" as they call for more to be done to protect locals and motorists.
They fear that it's only a matter of time before someone is killed at the danger spot.
In recent years members of the community have worked with both Police Scotland and SLC to crack down on road safety.
And this week, police have warned of enforcement action on the A72 if motorists refuse to comply with the law.
Chief Inspector Briony Daye told Lanarkshire Live : “We are aware of the local concerns about safety on the roads in the Ferniegair area of Hamilton.
"We work closely with a range of partner agencies including other emergencies services and local authorities to ensure the safety of all using our roads.
“This continues to be a priority for us and we will take enforcement action against anyone breaking the law – this can be using your mobile phone, speeding, drink/drug driving or any other offence.
"Motorists must ensure that they give their driving the full attention it deserves.
“I would encourage anyone with any concerns about road users to make us aware as we are committed to improving safety.”
Meanwhile the local authority have confirmed the number of accidents on Carlisle Road has decreased.
SLC''s head of roads and transportation, Colin Park, told us : “Matters relating to speed and road safety have been investigated in recent months.
“The council receive details of any injury accidents occurring on the road network generally in the month following the incident. Accident statistics are also reviewed on an annual basis across the council area.
“The accident record for Carlisle Road is improving with fewer injury accidents occurring over recent years than previously.
“A speed limit gateway feature on the approach from Larkhall was recently completed which complements measures already in place that influence traffic speed such as vehicle activated signs, traffic signals, bus stops, cycle network and right turn storage junction markings.
“This section of road is also identified as a mobile site by the Safety Camera Unit and local Police have been undertaking enforcement since last year.
“We have measured speeds and, working with the police, have concluded there is a high level of compliance with the speed limit.
“Notwithstanding this, further enforcement activities are programmed.”
The gateway installed consists of speed limit signs, settlement name, red coloured surfacing with speed limit roundel marking and “dragons teeth” markings in the approach.
